If you’re looking for an authentic Napa Valley winery experience away from the large crowds, Tres Sabores Winery deserves a spot on your itinerary. I visited with my family and was immediately struck by how different it felt from many of Napa Valley’s more commercial tasting rooms.

Instead of rushing guests through a tasting, Tres Sabores offers a relaxed, personal experience centered around organic farming, estate-grown wines, and genuine hospitality.

After spending years exploring Napa Valley and helping first-time visitors plan memorable wine country vacations, I’ve learned that smaller family-owned wineries often become the highlight of a trip. While famous wineries certainly have their place, boutique wineries like Tres Sabores provide a much more intimate look at what makes Napa Valley so special.

Is Tres Sabores Winery Worth Visiting?

If you’re looking for a relaxed, authentic Napa Valley wine tasting, I absolutely think Tres Sabores is worth visiting. My family and I visited during one of our Napa Valley trips, and it ended up being one of those wineries that reminded us why we love seeking out smaller, family-owned wineries instead of only checking off Napa’s biggest names.

Tres Sabores feels like a hidden escape that captures everything I love about Napa Valley. Even though it’s conveniently located just off Highway 29, the moment you turn onto the gravel road, the pace slows down and it feels like you’ve stumbled upon a peaceful corner of wine country that many visitors drive right past.

The property is exactly what you picture when you dream about Napa Valley. There are olive trees shading picnic tables, lush gardens bursting with color, an adorable little farm with goats, and breathtaking views of vineyards stretching across the valley. Instead of feeling polished for tourists, the winery feels warm, welcoming, and deeply connected to the land.

To me, that’s what a Napa Valley wine tasting should be all about. Tres Sabores combines exceptional wines with genuine hospitality and a setting that encourages you to slow down, soak in the scenery, and appreciate why Napa Valley has become one of the world’s most celebrated wine regions.

It’s the kind of winery I find myself recommending to anyone looking for a more intimate and memorable wine country experience.

What Is the Tasting Experience Like at Tres Sabores Winery?

One of the things I appreciated most about Tres Sabores was how relaxed and welcoming the entire experience felt.

The tasting itself takes place on their dirt patio, surrounded by vineyards and gardens, making it easy to settle in and enjoy the company and scenery.

We also visited with our two little ones, both under two years old at the time, and I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect and was really nervous.

Instead of making us feel like children were an inconvenience, our host immediately welcomed our family. They brought out coloring supplies and bubbles for my son and even invited us to visit the barn to meet the goats. That small gesture turned what could have been a stressful outing into one of our favorite winery visits in Napa.

They are also dog-friendly and have their own golden retrievers running around the property. Which sadly we de did not get to meet them.

Tres Sabores creates an experience that feels genuine from the moment you arrive until the time you leave.

How Is the Wine at Tres Sabores Winery?

The beautiful setting may be what first catches your attention, but the wines are what make Tres Sabores a winery worth returning to. Our tasting included five of their current releases, and I loved that each wine was distinctly different while reflecting the winery’s commitment to certified organic farming and small-lot winemaking.

Tres Sabores produces a mix of Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, Petit Verdot, and a handful of other small-production wines. I arrived expecting the reds to steal the show, and they certainly impressed, but the biggest surprise was how much I enjoyed the first two wines we tasted.

The Rosé and Sauvignon Blanc were both crisp, refreshing, and beautifully balanced. The Sauvignon Blanc had bright tropical fruit flavors with lively acidity, while the Rosé was light, fruit-forward, and refreshingly dry rather than overly sweet. They were the perfect way to begin the tasting.

Next came the St. Laurent, a varietal I’d never had before. It’s naturally lower in alcohol than many red wines, making it a great option if you enjoy lighter-bodied reds or want something that pairs well with spicy dishes. Tres Sabores is one of only three wineries in Napa Valley producing wine from this unique grape, making it a fun opportunity to try something you won’t find at most tasting rooms.

We also sampled Por Qué No?, the winery’s California red blend. With its playful name and easy-drinking style, it quickly became one of our favorites. We enjoyed it so much that we couldn’t resist bringing home two bottles—because, well… por qué no?

My favorite wine of the tasting, though, was the Estate Cabernet Sauvignon. It was everything I hope for in a Napa Cabernet: smooth, balanced, and full of dark fruit flavors with subtle cedar notes. We left with a bottle to enjoy later, and it’s definitely one I’d recommend picking up if you’re visiting.

It would also make an excellent addition to your cellar if you’re looking for a Cabernet that’s worthy of saving for a special occasion.

That commitment is evident everywhere you look. From the thriving gardens and olive trees to the vineyards and thoughtfully crafted wines, Tres Sabores demonstrates that great wine starts with caring for the land.

Family and Dog Friendly

Unlike many Napa Valley wineries, Tres Sabores welcomes both families and four-legged friends. With their little farm onsite and golden retrievers running around, this is the perfect winery to visit if you plan on bringing your kids. Or just love animals!

One of the Few Wineries Where You Can Enjoy a Picnic Lunch

Another feature that makes Tres Sabores unique is its flexible food options. You can bring your own picnic for a small fee, have the winery arrange lunch, or enjoy one of their delicious cheese and charcuterie boards alongside your tasting.
