Glidesdale Adventures Review: Napa’s Most Unique Tour

If you’re planning a Napa Valley trip and want something more memorable than simply driving from winery to winery all day, this was honestly one of the most unique and unexpectedly fun experiences I’ve had in Napa Valley.

I recently did a glide bike wine tour with Glidesdale Adventures, and it completely changed how I thought a Napa wine day could feel.

Instead of sitting in a car between tastings, you’re gliding along the Napa Valley Vine Trail, stopping at thoughtfully chosen wineries, enjoying a picnic lunch, and actually experiencing Napa Valley along the way.

It felt relaxed, adventurous, and honestly much more memorable than a traditional tasting day.

In this review, I’m sharing exactly what the experience was like, the wineries we visited, who I think this tour is best for, and whether I think it’s worth booking for your Napa trip.

🍷 My tour with Glidesdale Adventures was honestly one of the most memorable experiences I’ve personally had in Napa Valley. Book here & you can also get 10% off with code ALISHA.

5 Reasons Why I Loved This Tour

✔️ Unique & fun alternative to traditional wine tours
✔️ Easy beginner-friendly glide bikes
✔️ Smaller authentic wineries
✔️ Picnic lunch included
✔️ Scenic Napa Valley Vine Trail

What is Glidesdale Adventures?

Glidesdale Adventures offers guided glide bike wine tours through Napa Valley, combining scenic riding along the Napa Valley Vine Trail with thoughtfully chosen winery stops along the way.

If you’re wondering what glide bikes actually are, I had the exact same question before doing the tour. They’re basically a mix between a scooter and an e-bike, but without the pedaling or extra effort, exactly how I prefer my wine tasting days in Napa Valley.

What makes this tour stand out is that it feels completely different from a traditional wine tour. It’s adventurous, scenic, interactive, and honestly much more memorable than simply driving or Ubering from winery to winery all day.

Instead of spending most of the day in a car, you’re actually outside experiencing Napa Valley as you glide past vineyards, scenic views, and winery landscapes along the Vine Trail.

Are the Glide Bikes Easy to Ride?

Before the tour, I wasn’t totally sure what the glide bikes would feel like, but they ended up being surprisingly beginner-friendly and easy to ride, even if you’ve never done anything like this before. And after the first tasting I was a pro!

Steve, the owner and guide of Glidesdale, also takes time at the beginning to make sure everyone feels confident before heading onto the Vine Trail. And throughout the ride, he regularly checks in to make sure everyone feels safe and comfortable the entire time.

Tour Options: Napa vs Calistoga

Glidesdale Adventures currently offers two different tour experiences, depending on what kind of Napa day you’re looking for. Both tours include stops at three wineries (tastings not included) and a yummy picnic lunch.

Napa Valley Vine Trail Tour

This is the tour I did, and it’s perfect if you want a scenic, relaxed ride along the Napa Valley Vine Trail with winery stops along the way.

Calistoga Backroads Tour

This option takes you through quieter, scenic backroads in Calistoga and includes stop at Bennett Lane Winery, Joseph Cellars, and Tamber Bey Vineyards, a hidden gem winery where you can actually see and visit their vineyard horses.

✅ Between the scenic Vine Trail, picnic lunch, and hidden gem wineries, this felt like the perfect mix of adventure and wine tasting. Use code ALISHA to save 10% on your Glidesdale Adventures tour.

Glidesdale Adventures Review: My Experience on the Glide Bike Tour

I had such an incredible time gliding along the Napa Valley Vine Trail, the whole experience was a blast and I loved that it was something that I have never done before.

The wineries they chose to visit on this tour were honestly one of my favorite parts.

They weren’t the big, touristy spots, instead, they felt more authentic and off-the-beaten-path. These are wineries I would absolutely go back to on my own.

The glide bikes themselves were way easier to ride than I expected, and that made the whole experience feel really approachable.

And Steve, the owner and guide, made a huge difference. There were a few times on the Vine Trail where you need to cross the street or stop at a stoplight. He made sure everyone felt comfortable and safe, and you could tell he genuinely cares about creating a great experience.

The tour also includes a picnic lunch at one of the wineries with pasta salad, meats, and cheeses. The perfect combo for a day of wine tastings!

It never felt rushed or overwhelming, just a really fun and relaxed way to explore Napa Valley.

✅ Honestly, the combination of easy glide bikes, vineyard views, wine tastings, and a picnic lunch made this one of the easiest Napa days to enjoy without overplanning everything yourself. Save 10% with code ALISHA.

Wineries We Visited on the Napa Tour

Laird Family Estate

Located right along the Vine Trail, Laird Family Estate was such a welcoming and wonderful first stop.

The patio overlooks the vineyards, and the whole vibe is very relaxed and approachable. I especially loved that it’s picnic friendly, kid-friendly, and even dog-friendly, which makes it a really easy winery to include in any Napa itinerary.

The wines were great and honestly, very reasonably priced for Napa, which is rare. Definitely a good spot to come home with some bottles from (the pack on each glide pack can actually fit 3!)

Elyse Winery

This winery honestly felt like such a hidden gem, and I already know it’s a place I’ll be talking about more in the future.

After gliding off the Napa Valley Vine Trail, we arrived at Elyse Winery, tucked away in a picturesque neighborhood that felt peaceful, quiet, and incredibly authentic. We sat for our tasting at a table surrounded by vineyards and roses, and the entire setting felt almost like stepping into a small winery in Tuscany.

What makes this tasting experience especially unique is that three different wine brands produce wines here as part of the HQ Collection, giving you the opportunity to try a really interesting variety of wines in one place.

It’s not a large-production winery, and honestly, that’s what makes it feel so special. The smaller, more intimate setting gave me a behind-the-scenes look at the day-to-day operations of a working winery, which was such a cool experience.

Even during my short visit, I was able to, meet the winemaker, walk through the vineyards, and see the barrel room. It was one of the highlights of the day.

🍇 One of my favorite parts of this experience was discovering smaller wineries I probably never would’ve found on my own. You can book your Glidesdale Adventures tour here and save 10% with code ALISHA.

Why This Tour Feels Different

This tour gives you a completely different perspective of Napa Valley than a traditional wine tasting day. Instead of simply driving from winery to winery, you’re actually outside experiencing wine country as you glide past vineyards, scenic views, and quiet stretches of the Napa Valley Vine Trail.

It also makes you slow down and enjoy the smaller moments you normally miss when just arriving at each winery stop.

What I especially loved is that this is a Napa experience you really can’t find anywhere else. Between the glide bikes, thoughtfully chosen wineries, and included picnic lunch, the entire day feels less like a structured tour — and more like a really fun, well-planned Napa day you didn’t have to organize yourself.

Glide Bike Tour vs E-Bike Wine Tours

If you’ve been researching more outdoorsy wine tours in Napa Valley, you’ve probably come across a lot of e-bike tours, and while those can absolutely be fun, this experience feels very different.

With most e-bike tours, the biking itself tends to be a bigger focus. You’re usually pedaling more, navigating routes, and treating the experience as both a bike ride and a wine tour.

The glide bikes feel much more relaxed and beginner-friendly. You’re not really “biking” in the traditional sense, it feels easier, more stable, and far less physically demanding than a typical e-bike tour.

That means you can focus more on enjoying the scenery and simply having a fun, low-effort day in Napa Valley

And honestly, I loved that I didn’t need to dress for a workout. I wore flats, jeans, and a sweater and was still able to ride the glide bike with ease.

Traditional e-bike tours are still a great option if you want something more active and don’t mind putting in a little more physical effort. Most use pedal-assist e-bikes, so you can still comfortably explore Napa Valley while getting outdoors and enjoying the scenery.

But if you’re looking for something easier, more relaxed, and centered around the overall Napa experience rather than the workout itself, this is where the glide bike tour really stands out.

🚴‍♀️ Even if you’ve never ridden a glide bike before, this tour is surprisingly beginner-friendly and easy to do. Use code ALISHA to get 10% off your Glidesdale Adventures booking.

Who This Tour is Best For

This experience is perfect if you’re looking for something a little different from a typical Napa itinerary.

I’d especially recommend it for:

A lot of people planning Napa trips are looking for:

  • great wineries
  • easy transportation
  • lunch with vineyard views
  • something more unique than just driving between tastings

This tour checks all four.

Pros and Cons

Pros:

✔️ Unique experience compared to traditional wine tours
✔️ Easy-to-ride glide bikes
✔️ Thoughtfully selected wineries
✔️ Relaxed, non-rushed pace
✔️ Great for first-time visitors

Cons

✖️ Not ideal if you prefer luxury or private driver-style wine tours
✖️ You’ll spend a few hours outdoors using the glide bikes, so it’s best if you’re comfortable with light activity
✖️ Wine tastings are not included in the tour price (although the tasting fees were very reasonable for Napa Valley, and many other Napa tours don’t include tastings either)
✖️ Because it’s an outdoor experience, rainy weather can impact the tour

✅ Napa trips aren’t cheap, so I always think the experiences you book should actually stand out and feel worth remembering. This was absolutely one of those experiences — and you can save 10% with code ALISHA.

Who This Tour May Not Be Best For

While I personally loved this experience, I don’t think it’s the perfect fit for every type of Napa traveler.

This tour may not be ideal if you:

  • prefer luxury private driver-style wine tours
  • want complete control over your winery itinerary
  • dislike spending several hours outdoors in the sun
  • are looking for a very fast-paced tasting day focused on visiting as many wineries as possible

But if you’re looking for a more interactive, scenic, and memorable way to experience Napa Valley, this is honestly where the tour really stands out.

Is Glidesdale Adventures Worth It?

In my opinion—yes.

If you’re looking for a Napa experience that feels memorable and unique, this is such a fun way to do it.

It combines wine, scenery, and activity in a way that feels different from anything else in Napa.

And because everything is planned for you, it takes the stress out of figuring out transportation and winery logistics.

FAQs About Glidesdale Adventures

What should you wear on your glide bike tour?

You should wear layers, since it can feel very breezy on the glide bike during the beginning of the tour. By the afternoon, temperatures usually warm up quite a bit. I wore flats, jeans, and a light sweater and felt comfortable the entire time.
You also don’t need to wear workout clothes like you would on a traditional e-bike tour, just wear something you feel comfortable and confident in and avoid heels.

Are wine tastings included on the Glidesdale Adventures tour?

Wine tastings are not included in the Glidesdale Adventures tour price. However, the wineries visited are generally within the $40–$75 per person range, which is pretty average for Napa Valley. Some wineries may also waive or comp tasting fees with the purchase of wine bottles.

Booking with Glidesdale Adventures

I know Napa Valley can feel like a once-in-a-lifetime trip, and when you only have a few days, you want every experience to truly feel worth it. This is absolutely one of those tours I would’ve been thrilled to book on my first trip to Napa Valley. It’s fun, unique, off the beaten path, and includes some really great wineries.
